Mene Bre
Above the communes of Treglamus, Louargat and Pedernec, the “holy mountain” or the “Gentle giant of the region” gives the impression of looking down on inland Tregor and the coast by virtue of its 302 metres height.
Many legends surround this site. It is claimed that Gwench ‘lan hid treasure in the heart of the hill, after using the services of a carter whom he had blindfolded.
At one time the home of an important horse-fair, nowadays it’s treasured by walkers. In addition to all that, every year Mene bre hosts on August 15th the Breton horse festival.
Look out for : the viewpoint table and St Herve’s chapel. As for wildlife, Mene bre is home to birds of prey, the St Martin buzzard and a magnificent butterfly – the “machaon”
Mene-Huguene
This hill (304 metres high) located in the Louargat commune has the nickname “Torture Moor” because in the distant past, a gallows stood there. A bank kept the spectators at bay. On this spot there is a wonderful view over the village of Louargat as well as Coat an Hay and Coat an Noz forests.
Mene Keresper
Located in Plougonver, this is the highest point in the area, rising to 321 metres. A must-see for hikers, it offers an unrivalled view over the whole region. Also a spot with historical connotations, in the 15th century it served as a “justice park”.
