The Belle-isle-en-Terre region is characterised by its water, something that will delight Nature-lovers and fans of river-fishing.
Whether you’re just curious, an amateur or a die-hard, we’re sure you’ll find your little heaven here in Belle-isle. Be patient, don’t make any noise, and you may well come across a salmon or an otter.
The water system that contributes to form the Leguer equals 500 kms of high quality streams in which are found trout, salmon, eels and sea-trout. The Leguer is about 60 kms long from its source at Bulat Pestivien to where it enters the sea at Lannion.
The network of water-courses looked after by the AAPPMA* of the Leguer is managed as a part of a global strategy in which no artificial fish stocking is carried out and where only wild fish that have bred naturally exist. An entire policy has been enacted in alliance with local organisations in order to improve the water quality, and to thus encourage aquatic life.
The AAPPMA of the Argoat region is not part of the official regional system; nevertheless it works in harmony with other neighbouring AAPPMA’s. To fish on the Leguer, you’ll need a card issued by one of the 5 associated AAPPMA’s of the Tregor region, and to have paid the CPMA tax.
*AAPPMA : Recognised association for fishing and the protection of the aquatic environment of the Argoat region (Belle-isle / Loguivy Plougras)
