Home to 1000 people, Belle-Isle-en-Terre’s heritage and many assets will make you want to visit time and time again.
One of the key players in building this rich heritage was Mai le Manac’h, otherwise known as Lady Mond, and who came from Belle-Isle. After having lived in the castle of Coat an Noz forest (19th century), she decided to have her own one built in the centre of town. This building has now become the Regional River Studies Education Centre.
Lady Mond’s mausoleum is situated at Loc Maria’s chapel – whose roodscreen is classed as a historical monument. The fountain trail will take you past the chapel.
Belle-Isle-en-Terre’s remarkable natural environment is ideal for hikers, riders and those on bike trails, fishers and kayak activities and must be seen for its beautiful flowers.
To complete your visit, why not take some time to go and visit the old Paper Factory site, a fundament part of local history and art yet inkeeping with its natural environment.
